Terminal 5 Retail Design |  O'Hare International Airport, Chicago

  • Proposed LEED/SAM Gold Level

The redesign of the food court and retail area has been an ongoing project whose goal is to better serve the flying public, especially after 9/11. New security lineups have significantly altered the flow patterns of the food court and retail spaces. 'Aviation' and 'Chicago' themed designs have been provided to maximize the retail space and shift the food court to the 'airside' of the terminal. The entire food court has been redesigned to address the lower ceiling, provide improved lighting and create a more inviting environment for travelers.

Shopping opportunities have been extended down each wing of the terminal, featuring retail enclosures that are sympathetic to T-5's architectonic elements. Retail spaces are defined by abstract airplane themed, overhead decorative ceiling panels.
