Steiner Electric|  Elk Grove, Illinois

Steiner Electric is located in several building in Elk Grove Village.  The corporate headquarters are in a very plain 1960’s brick veneer industrial building.  The owner wished to review concepts for upgrading the facade to make it relevant to the companies history.

Rick Kerman, the CEO, is the third CEO in Steiner’s long history.  His father was the previous CEO.  To honor his father, a WW II vet who was in the communications corp of the army, the facade features a Morse Code symbol for ’K’ (Kerman), a dash, dot, dash, in the form of three windows under the Steiner logo.  The facade canopy is copper, which is the primary metal that the electrical firm sells.  This canopy spans from the larger brick massing, symbolic of his father, and spans down to the smaller mass, symbolic of Rick.  The entry canopy is made up of solar panels, which Steiner sells.
