- Honorable Mention for Environmental Design + Construction Excellence Award
This ‘Base’ home scheme was selected by the City of Chicago as part of a 1999 national design competition held for affordable green housing. The design goals were to reduce resource consumption by using renewable and recycled building materials, create a healthy interior, and combine Energy Star equipment with green building techniques to create energy efficiency. The concept was that even with a tight budget, there should be no reason for not incorporating green ideals into a design.
