Freeman Seating, a seat manufacturer company, founded in 1892 and currently employing over 550 blue collar jobs, installed a 50 panel 25kW solar PV system. The PV panel system employs a fully ballasted roof mounted design. An Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Development grant along with various Federal grants were secured along with ComEd rebates and EPACT deductions. These all contributed to providing an economically viable return on investment for the company. The project also entailed work by other consultants that included a comprehensive energy audit, power factor correction & lighting retrofit.

The project had an extremely tight timeframe to qualify for the various grants. It was designed, permitted and installed within a 45 day window.
