O’Hare International Airport – Terminal 5, Chicago, Illinois
COVET CHICAGO CAFÉ (an USGAVE Initiative) would be prominently located at the entrance of the two main gates of the International terminal. The project scope is to construct two single line service café/bar counters to provide coffee, espresso, tea and alcoholic beverages and premade pastries.
The curved bar counter provides a communal seating area. This seating area, along with the corresponding curved soffit above, visually extends out past the corner to provide an increased presence to travelers. The textures and colors relate to the beverages being served, with muted taupe colors relating to the coffee, and the centrally located liquor enclosure having more visual punch with a modern tiled surround and bright accent colors.
Overall these design elements are meant to contrast with the square edged design elements and white, blue and gray color palette found throughout the terminal to create an enticing and distinctive premier café destination.
